Garden of Life

It’s that time of year. It starts with Halloween and then its downhill (or uphill, maybe?) from there. The season of celebrations, cocktail parties, and holiday gatherings. The season of food. Lots of it. And drink. Lots of it.

On top of that, the coolness of winter is settling in and our bodies start to shore up for the season. Maybe storing a little more, holding on, programmed to slow down and pack it in a little more in preparation for what has been the season of scarcity. Quite the opposite of what it is now.

It is also the season where we are more susceptible it seems to all the maladies. The cold and flu season.

So how do I prepare for all this?

First, I do a gentle cleanse. Not a cleanse that requires caloric restriction but some elimination of food that may be harder on our bodies — sugar, for one. But also, with elimination, some fortification. Instead of taking away, I add more of the things that are good. More greens, more probiotics. I already eat a lot of greens–often with every meal. So I fortify by adding a serving of green juice daily. And eating more food with probiotics.

For the last two weeks, I have been drinking a bottle of Garden of Flavor Mean Green and Green Harmony daily. And after 14 days of that plus no added sugar and definitely no refined carbohydrates, I feel strong and ready for the season to come.

Try it. Especially in these two weeks before Thanksgiving and/or in between that and Christmas.

Here’s to a healthy and happy winter!
