This weekend, we’ll hit the first day of the last month of summer. It’s that time of year when we all should really, really take it easy. Try to go slow. Savor the long days of sunshine.
No vacay this year? Do a Staycay. Take a weekend to truly unplug.
Spend time in your kitchen. This is the time of year in our short growing season where our local produce truly shines—juicy tomatoes, sweet peaches, lovely berries, and all those vegetables. Because they are fresh, you don’t even need to cook them much or at all.
Special request? Let’s not complain about the heat, please. Because in a few months, you’ll be wearing more fabric in one day than all of your summer wardrobe combined. Instead, let’s be opportunistic: show some skin. (We need to stock up on our Vitamin D reserves).
And finally, this is the time of year where a daily frozen dessert is justified. From a two-minute blackberry ice cream to no-bake cookies and cakes, here’s the only list you need to keep you cool in this last month of summer.

Raspberry Dream. Blueberry Banana. Mango Coconut Ginger. Time to whip out your blender and keep it on the counter—you’ll make these smoothies everyday!
Cereal milk on speed is what you get when you layer shaved ice, basil mint syrup, cashew ginger milk, fresh, juicy peaches and coconut ice cream. Hella yeah.

Raw Cheesecake with Chocolate Ganache
This dessert renders people speechless. I mean, just look at it. A salty sweet crust, a creamy, sweet tart filling. And topped with silky chocolate ganache. Swoon-worthy.

This is the dessert that you can truly make with your kids and not make a mess. The only mess-factor is melted chocolate all over the place and I am not the parent who is above letting the kids lick it all clean.
Got bananas? Then cut them up, freeze ‘em and turn ‘em into the easiest, healthiest, most surpringly creamiest ice cream ever.

Two-Minute Blackberry Ice Cream
That ice cream above, with a few more ingredients, really redefines gilding the lily. This is the best two-minute investment of your life.

Chocolate Turtles and Vanilla Walnut Shortbread. Haters of flour and hot ovens, these are for you. Easy cookies you can make with your kids without breaking a sweat.
Chocolate Almond Cream Tartlets
Here is something a little more sophisticated for that summer party. Little bites of brownies with cream. No-bake of course.
Dessert that’s good enough to be breakfast. For those who have not tried making Chia pudding parfait, now is the time. Chia seeds, almond milk, fresh fruit and granola. The best protein-packed breakfast dessert ever.

And of course, ICYMI, my new favorite jello-ice cream-float combo: Shrub Ice Cream Floats – even the float grows up one day.
