Do you know what these are?
Wait. Wait. Wait. I swear, everyone would be happier if they had one of these. Just read the reviews!
That’s right. A banana bunker. Because you really love bananas but you’ve never dared enjoy them outside the home because you really hate it when they get jostled around in your purse/murse.
Bananas are perfect by themselves, I know. And this just makes what’s already portable, even more so. They need to keep up with apples as the ideal grab-and-go fruit after all.
And when we want to go beyond the banana’s peel-and-eat excitement, we all enjoy their goodness in baked goods. And maybe in smoothies. But have you tried to straight up transform them into ersatz ice cream? What? No?! Well, then. Be prepared to buy bananas by the bushel and get some freezer space because these two recipes will rock your summer. They aren’t even really recipes — they take so little to make and the rewards are so great.
I am willing you to try these. Once again, I ask you to suspend disbelief and give these a whirl because they are THAT good.
The first recipe is from the archives – Frozen Chocolate Banana Bites.
These are so so SO much better (and better for you) than those Dib’s — which are made of things such as artificial vanilla flavor, corn syrup, cream, partially hydrogenated cottonseed and soybean oils, monoglycerides, tapioca maltodextrin, propylene glycol monostearate, monoglycerides, and everyone’s favorite, sodium carboxymethylcellulose.
These have two main ingredients — chocolate and bananas.
These love bites are what I give my little loves. The kids enjoy making these with me (they do the dipping). They are so quick to make that you can prep this right before dinner and have it for dessert that same night. Super.

The second recipe is for One Ingredient Ice Cream.
The one ingredient, of course, being bananas.
Head on over to Pittsburgh Magazine for the recipe!
These two recipes will keep you cool all summer long!
